Moomintroll notices that someone has been stealing fuel for the fires. The trail leads him to the top of the hill where Tooticky is preparing a bonfire for all the creatures of the winter to celebrate the return of the sun. All is going well until the Groke appears…

Moominpappa’s memoirs continue. Hodgkins introduces Moominpappa to his nephew the Muddler, who‘s always in a muddle. Hodgkins takes them deep into the woods where his houseboat, The Ocean Orchestra, awaits…

Episode 41: ‘Edward the Booble’
Moominpappa’s memoirs continue. Hodgkins, Moominpappa, the Muddler and the Joxter make the boat shipshape but it will not move. Hodgkins decides to trick the massive Edward the Booble into acting as a dam to divert the river towards them…

Episode 42: ‘Moomintroll to the Rescue’

Episode 43: ‘The Storm’
Moominpappa’s memoirs continue. A flotilla of Hattifatteners passes the anchored Ocean Orchestra. As a thick cloud descends upon the ship, they retire to bed. An angry Hodgkins awakens them with the news that the anchor line has been gnawed through and they‘re now adrift in a storm…

Episode 44: ‘The King’
Moominpappa’s memoirs continue. The crew of The Ocean Orchestra land and explore an unknown coast. They meet the Mymble‘s daughter who tells them that everyone has gone to the King of Jokes‘ one-hundredth birthday - what they don’t know is that the King is watching them, ready to play tricks upon the unsuspecting crew…

Episode 45: ‘Island Ghost’
Moominpappa’s memoirs continue. The King appoints Hodgkins as his court inventor so Moominpappa decides to form a colony with the Muddler, the Joxter and the Mymble. As he plans, Moominpappa is visited by a distinctly unimpressive ghost…

Episode 46: ‘Flying Boat’
Moominpappa’s memoirs continue. Hodgkins has converted The Ocean Orchestra into a flying boat. After an impressive launch ceremony, The crew departs (with the island ghost joining them and the Muddler opting to stay behind). As they plummet towards the ocean, Hodgkins reveals that it’s also a submarine…

Episode 47: ‘The Muddler‘s Marriage’
Moominpappa’s memoirs continue. Moominpappa has devoted a chapter of his memoirs to Sniff‘s mother. As The Ocean Orchestra continues its journey by sea, the King catches up to them. He asks them to return with them as the Muddler has announced his upcoming marriage to the stone-collecting Fuzzy. Unfortunately, the Hemulen Aunt and all the Niblings have also been invited…

Episode 48: ‘Love Story’
Moominpappa’s memoirs conclude with the tale of how Moominpappa and Moominmama met. On a stormy autumn night, the call of sea keeps pulling Moominpappa outside. There he spies a Moomin maiden caught out at sea and sets out to rescue her…

Episode 49: ‘The Volcano’
It is a hot summer‘s day and Moomintroll is missing Snuffkin. As everyone is suffering form the heat, they decide to sleep outside. Suddenly, the ground begins to rumble. The volcano on the nearby island is erupting…

Episode 50: ‘The Island’
The tidal wave caused by volcano‘s eruption has flooded Moominvalley. As the Moomins take refuge in the upper floors of the Moominhouse, Misabel and the Wompa float past and stop for a visit. The water continues to rise…

Emma, the old theatre rat, reveals herself to the Moomins and explains to them that the strange house they are living in is a theatre. They begin to get caught up in the excitement of it all and decide to put on a play…

Episode 54: ‘A Night in the Trees’
The theatre drifts into a wood and Moominpappa moors it. Moomintroll and the Snork Maiden decide to sleep in the trees. However, to stop the mooring damaging the prompter’s box, Emma undoes it in the middle of the night - the theatre begins to float away without Moomintroll and the Snork Maiden…

Episode 55: ‘Astonished Awakening’
Moominmama is distraught to find the children missing. Meanwhile, Moomintroll and the Snork Maiden discover they have been left behind. Moomintroll suggests crossing the trees, branch to branch, until they find land…

It’s Midsummer Eve and the Fillyjonk is miserably waiting for her aunt and uncle to arrive. Instead, she is visited by Moomintroll and the Snork Maiden who decide to cheer her up. They all build a midsummer bonfire from discarded signs they have found…

Episode 58: ‘Creepy Magic’
The Snork Maiden and the Fillyjonk are experimenting with fortune telling and magic. However, they are about to run into an angry park-keeper Hemulen who is looking for the people who burnt his precious signs…

Episode 59: ‘The Naughty Woodies’
While Moomintroll, the Snork Maiden and the Fillyjonk languish in the park-keeper‘s jail, Snuffkin and Little My seek shelter with the wood children. When the naughty Woodies become uncontrollable Little My demands that Snuffkin do something about them…

Episode 60: ‘Snuffkin‘s Invitation’
Little My, Snuffkin and the Woodies are sheltering in the Fillyjonk‘s empty house when an invitation to see Moominpappa‘s play arrives by messenger pigeon. They all set off to see it…

Episode 61: ‘In Jail’
Still in jail, Moomintroll, the Snork Maiden and the Fillyjonk‘s pleas go unheeded by the Hemulen. A leaflet for Moominpappa‘s play arrives and the Hemulen leaves his timid cousin in charge while he sets off to see it…

Episode 62: ‘Tea with the Hemulen‘s Niece’ Having befriended the Hemulen‘s cousin, Moomintroll, the Snork Maiden and the Fillyjonk go to her house for tea. Persuading her of their innocence, the four of them depart to see the play. However, the park-keeper has gone to his cousin‘s house…

* Even though the episode title says ‘Hemulen‘s Niece’, she is referred to as his cousin throughout!

Episode 63: ‘Dress Rehearsal’
The audience is gathering to watch the play. Backstage, Moominpappa is furiously rewriting and suffering from first-night nerves. The cast rehearse their play but Moominpappa can‘t remember his lines…

Episode 64: ‘The Performance’
It is opening night. Little My is surprised to see Moominpappa shouting at her sister, Moominmamma forgets her lines and the Woodies are terrified by the ‘lion’. Little My jumps to the stage, determined to take matters into her own hands…

Episode 65: ‘The Confrontation’
On the run from the Hemulen park-keeper and the police, Snuffkin waits in the rushes while Moomintroll goes back for the rest of the family. Leaving behind their friends, who have become attached to the theatre, the Moomins set out for home as the floodwaters recede…

Note: In this episode, the Hemulen Cousin is finally referred to as the Hemulen Niece!

Episode 66: ‘The Discoveries’
Back home after the flood, repairs are needed. Sniff and Moomintroll follow the river down to the sea where Sniff befriends a black cat. It leads him a hidden cave…

Episode 67: ‘The Muscrat‘s Prediction’
Although it’s summer, the sky is dull and flat. Everything is covered in dust so Moomintroll visits the wise old Muscrat to see if he knows why. He tells Moomintroll that the end of the world is coming as a comet is on its way to Moominvalley…

Episode 68: ‘The Journey’
The family have built a raft to take Moomintroll and Sniff to the observatory. Along the way, they meet Snuffkin and set up camp. To take Sniff‘s mind off the journey ahead, Snuffkin takes them to see a cave full of garnets. However, a surprise waits inside for Sniff…

Episode 69: ‘The Underground Waterfall’
Along the way to the observatory, Moomintroll, Snuffkin and Sniff are pulled over a waterfall. The broken mast wedges them on the edge of an underground waterfall, trapping them over a precipice…

Episode 70: ‘The Giant Eagle’
Camped near the cold, lonely mountains, Moomintroll, Snuffkin and Sniff are attacked by a giant eagle. After successfully escaping from the bird, Moomintroll is alarmed to find the Snork Maiden‘s abandoned ankle-bracelet…

Episode 71: ‘The Observatory’
At the observatory, Moomintroll, Snuffkin and Sniff draw lots to see who should go in to speak to the Professor. Moomintroll approaches but is so relieved when the Professor tells him that the Snork Maiden has been in looking for her bracelet that he forgets to ask about the comet…

Episode 72: ‘The Rockfall’
Armed with the knowledge that the comet will hit on the 4th of October, Moomintroll, Snuffkin and Sniff set off for Moominvalley. Sniff is panicky about the climb so they throw their packs over the cliff edge to cheer him up. But while throwing boulders, Moomintroll gets too close to the edge…

Episode 73: ‘Moomintroll to the Rescue’
The butterfly-collecting Hemulen is afraid he‘s being pursued by rocks. After Moomintroll, Snuffkin and Sniff admit to causing the avalanche he leaves in disgust. On their journey, the gang come across the Snork Maiden and her brother, the Snork, who are being attacked by a fearsome tree…

Episode 74: ‘The Village Shop’
On their way back to Moominvalley, the gang stop off at a village shop for supplies. Moomintroll and the Snork Maiden shyly exchange the gifts they have for one another…

Episode 75: ‘The Dance’
The gang decide to stop off at the local dance, much to the Snork‘s objections. Moomintroll and the Snork Maiden are too much in love to care about the threat of the comet…

Episode 76: ‘The Dead Sea’
The gang are hot, tried and depressed as they trudge across the barren landscape. The sea has dried up so Snuffkin recommends that they use stilts to cross it. In the hull of a sunken ship, something lies in wait…

Episode 77: ‘Locust Attack’
Having crossed the sea bed, the gang meet people fleeing Moominvalley. The stamp-collecting Hemulen joins them in time for the gang to be attacked by a swarm of locusts…

It is winter and a hibernating Moomintroll is dreaming of an early spring. In his dream, a gadfly attacks him and takes the brush off his tail. Moominmamma sends for the doctor to examine him…

Episode 81: ‘The Cure’
Moomintroll continues to dream. As the doctor cannot cure Moomintroll‘s tail, Moominmamma sets out to find ingredients for her grandmother‘s traditional remedy. She is accosted in her herb-gathering by Stinky Longlegs…

Episode 82: ‘The Cocktail Party’
Moomintroll continues to dream. Moomintroll visits Snuffkin as he repairs the jetty. He tells Snuffkin that they have all been invited to cocktails with the Duchess because of his new golden tail…

Episode 83: ‘Cedric’
Moomintroll continues to dream. In this dream, Sniff has a favourite toy dog called Cedric. Gaffsie‘s daughter, who is convinced no one loves her, sees Cedric and wants him for herself. Moomintroll tells Sniff he has a plan…

Moomintroll continues to dream. Moomintroll and Moominpappa are out hunting in the forest. Stinky bumps into them and tells them that everyone‘s afraid of the vampire that is on the loose. They then find the naughty house-sprite imprisoned in a cage but he doesn‘t want to be let out…

Moomintroll continues to dream. The Moominhouse is barricaded against vampire attacks. Moominmamma finds a bat hiding in one of the kitchen drawers. Could this be the vampire?
